Celebrating half a decade of bringing together Boise’s social set to support community non-profits, the 5th Annual Soup Tweetup will host a collection of the valley’s most exciting chefs to benefit the Wyakin Warrior Foundation, an organization providing comprehensive training for wounded and injured veterans. The event will be held at Flatbread Neapolitan Pizzeria’s new 8th & Main location in the heart of downtown on Fat Tuesday, March 4, 2014, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission at the door is $7.50.
The Soup Tweetup gathers local chefs to serve up their best versions of the classic comfort food as participants vote on their favorites and mingle from beyond a keyboard. From inception, the event has offered Boise residents the opportunity to meet their Facebook and Twitter connections in person and enjoy delicious local soups, all while supporting a worthy local organization.
The proceeds from each year’s event tickets and silent auction are donated to a local non-profit. This year’s designated non-profit is the Wyakin Warrior Foundation, providing educational and professional-development programs to injured and ill Post 9/11 veterans. This amazing foundation offers service men and women the resources they need to better accomplish collegiate and career success. The 2013 Soup Tweetup event raised over $7,000 for the Ronald McDonald House.
For the 2014 event, 18 local restaurants and chefs have already officially signed on to offer their own soup creations, including:
